Clothing is one of the human basic needs besides food, shelter and medicine. In the agriculture society, every family woven fabric for its own used. The process of weaving has been taught to the female members of the household by the grandmother or mother. So the same craft was carried on from generation to generation as a cultural heritage. The majority of Thai community are farming community. When the farming is done the women would spent time weaving fabric or other household items as it is said  When the harvest is done the women woven cloths and the men beat the iron which clearly indicated the division of roles between men and women. It also shows the attitude and characteristic of women because the wearing is an art form that requires innovation, diligent of patient. It prepares the young women for the role of a housewife. The fabric may be for the household used or to be trade for other necessary items. Weaving fabric is a way of life in the old days from birth to death. Textile weaving can be devided into three types as follow :
Fabric for every wear and for ceremonial costume.
Fabric for the King in Court
Fabric for monastery or religion.
