Textile Museum Background
Naresuan University is committed to the implementation of four missions and objectives: to teach, to conduct research, to provide academic services to the
public, and to promote cultural conservation. With the assistance of outside organizations, the university strives to integrate the four objectives whenever
possible so that both a business approach and an academic approach can go hand-in-hand.
Out of this policy was born the “Textile Museum.”
The university understands that “cotton” is a major agricutural product which needs development and promotion.
Joining together with the “Chitralada Shop”, under the patronage of Her Majesty the Queen, and the Tourist Organization of Thailand, the university has been able to establish the “Naresuan University Textile Museum.”
In the future, the museum plans to extend its collection
of textiles beyond cotton. A large display area will provide opportunities for both the Thai public and foreign tourists to observe and learn to appreciate the elements of traditional
Thai culture as represented by the cottage textile industry.
Objectives
1. To celebrate the Golden Jubilee Wedding Anniversary of their majesties the King and Queen in the Year 2000.
2. To join in celebrating the 72nd birthday of His Majesty the King.
3. To celebrate the 12th anniversary of the establishment of Naresuan University.
4. To establish a center for the gathering of academic data
focusing on textiles in order to promote public and academic
5.1.A building containing implements and tools used in the cottage textile industry since ancient times.
5.2/5.3 Two buildings providing demonstrations of basic weaving and special weaving procedures.
5.4 A building demonstrating hand-Woven textile products. 
Besides demonstrations of the methods employed in weaving cotton cloth, visitors can walk through garden of plants and flowers from Thai literature and observe the actual growing of the plants used in producing Thai cotton.
